Playing your first club gig
What to ask a promoter before you say yes: booking fee, tech rider, backline, travel and accommodation — and how to put it in writing.
Before you say yes, get the basics in writing: the fee, who pays for travel and where you sleep, what is on the rider and what the booth actually has in it.
Ask about
- Fee — the number, when it is paid, and in cash or by invoice.
- Tech — mixer, decks or CDJs, monitors, and whether you can bring your own.
- Travel — trains or flights, who books them, and whether they are paid up front.
- Accommodation — a hotel or a floor, and how you get there at 6am.
