Getting paid fairly
Fee ranges, how billing and taxes work for DJs in Austria and Germany, and why sharing numbers with each other shifts the balance.
Fees are only opaque because nobody talks about them. Sharing what you were paid, for what slot, in what room, is the fastest way to stop being underpaid.
Practical notes
- Invoice properly, and keep the paperwork — it matters at tax time.
- Agree the fee before the flyer goes out, not after.
- Ask what the headliner slot pays, then ask what your slot pays.
